Central Atlanta Progress Dan Sweat Award
Georgia-Pacific Chairman Pete Correll was honored with the Dan Sweat Award for his efforts since the early 1990s to help improve the environment of downtown Atlanta for those who live, work and play there.
The award is given annually to downtown civic leaders who have fought for “doing the right thing” for downtown Atlanta and have gone beyond the scope of their positions in the community.
As chairman of CAP during the mid-1990s, Correll implemented the Atlanta Downtown Improvement District, a public-private partnership that works to create a livable environment for Downtown Atlanta. He also led the development of the Ambassador Force, hospitality representatives who provide residents, tourists, conventioneers and business owners with a variety of information and assistance.
