Legal Compliance
GP complies with all laws in all its operations. This means GP will not purchase any timber that has been acquired or harvested in a manner not in compliance with the statues or regulations of the area in which the timber is procured. The following measures are in place to ensure legal compliance in the United States:
- Extensive security system to monitor operations in the U.S.
- Educational opportunities for all GP foresters, landowners, logging professionals and contractors on Best Management Practices (BMPs), which include guidelines to help protect water and soil quality, as well as information on applicable species protected under the Threatened and Endangered Species Act.
- Assessment of suppliers of fiber outside of North America regarding sustainable forestry issues and legal title to fiber.
