Practicing and Promoting Sustainable Forestry on All Lands
Sustainable forestry practices are integrated into all procurement and harvesting operations as well as the Forest Management Assistance Program (Forest MAPSM), GP's landowner assistance program. Some of these practices include:
- Protecting water quality by following all state Best Management Practices (BMPs), whether voluntary or mandatory.
- Encouraging reforestation, both natural and planted.
- Promoting awareness and providing landowners with practical approaches for addressing wildlife habitat, critically imperiled or imperiled species and threatened and endangered species.
- Responsibly operating in adverse weather conditions.
- Requiring all loggers and suppliers to be trained through professional logger training programs.
- Promoting and providing outreach to private landowners, logging professionals, foresters, and the general public on sustainable forestry issues.
