Sustainability
Sustainability means many things to many people but here at Georgia-Pacific Gypsum we believe sustainability means a building created with durable and long lasting products, and that provides a more healthy indoor environment for its inhabitants. When you use paperless building products in your design, you're using products that are more resistant to moisture and deterioration, therefore more forgiving when leaks and moisture intrusion might damage or destroy more traditional paper faced gypsum panels.
As for indoor air quality, architects and specifiers are now inundated with green products, so how do you know what's truly "green?" One way is to look for third party certifications such as GREENGUARD or Collaboration for High Performing Schools (CHPS). These organizations, along with many others, are applying meaningful measurements and testing to ensure products meet their standards for indoor air quality.
DensArmor Plus® interior drywall has received both GREENGUARD and GREENGUARD Children & Schoolssm Certifications for low VOC (volatile organic compounds) emissions. The more stringent Children & Schools certification means DensArmor Plus drywall, along with low VOC paints or wall coverings and insulation create a wall assembly that meets or exceeds many indoor air quality specifications for low VOC emission environments.
Importantly, building with paperless products can also help with LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification. Georgia-Pacific Gypsum is a committed member of US Green Building Council (USGBC) and many of our products contribute LEED certification points in the Materials and Resources category.
