Stops hidden moisture damage
DensShieldDensShield® Tile Backer is built to outperform other types of backer boards. In fact, DensShield is the only board in the industry with a built-in moisture barrier and a proprietary water-resistant treated core, which prevents moisture from seeping through the porous grout and damaging the wooden subfloor or wall cavity.
Scores a 10
When it comes to mold resistance, DensShield Tile Backer scored a 10, the highest level of performance for mold resistance under the ASTM D 3273* test method. That means there was no mold growth in a 4-week controlled laboratory test. When properly used with good design, handling, and construction practices, DensShield Tile Backer boards provide increased mold resistance compared to standard paper-faced wallboard products.
Supports sustainability
DensShield Tile Backer is the first and only tile backer listed as a GREENGUARD™ microbial-resistant product (based on ASTM testing Standard D 6329-98) by a leading third-party organization, GREENGUARD Environmental Institute. In addition, Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) recognizes DensShield Tile Backer as a low emitting product for use in projects that adhere to the CHPS standards. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has provided guidance indicating that non-paper-faced gypsum boards, including DensShield, are acceptable materials for commercial and residential buildings constructed in special flood hazard areas as defined by the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).
Where to use
DensShield Tile Backer has a long and successful track record. It is the perfect substrate for tile and non-tile installations, whether in wet or non-wet situations.
