Logistics Areas
Transportation – Monitor motor and rail transportation in the business unit. Plan, execute, and confirm shipment modes, ship dates, ETA, transit times, etc. Resolve late loads, reloads, and customer service issues. Responsible for transportation-related analysis (trained on the job). Work closely with Operations (motor and rail transportation), Pricing, Customer Service, and others in the business unit.
Inventory Management – Resolve inventory issues at the distribution center level, make certain customer service orders process in the system (SAP), and avoid inventory cuts to the customer. Responsible for maintaining specific levels of inventory at each distribution center (DC) by monitoring deployments from the plant, transfers from other DCs, and working with Production Planning to secure inventory for future demand/forecast. Work very closely with Customer Service, Product Supply, Distribution Supply, and Production Planning.
Outside Purchasing/Sourcing – Source inventory from outside vendors. Determine and maintain adequate inventory supply levels at the distribution centers. Lead and follow-up on communication with Transportation to make sure vendor orders are confirmed and shipped. Work closely with outside vendors, Production Planning, Product Supply and Transportation.
Supply Chain – Assist Supply Chain Excellence team on supply chain process improvement. This position is heavily focused on project management and overall business process improvement. Use benchmarking to determine optimization, efficiencies, and cost savings within the supply chain. Work closely with Supply Chain Excellence team and other cross-functional teams.
Mill Operations – Traffic planning, logistics and customer service support at the mill. Responsibilities will provide exposure to carrier contracts and negotiations, as well as analyzing carrier rates.
