Name and position title:
Sandra (Sandy) J. Mobley, regional human resources manager, East - packaging
Education I have received:
B.S. Education, Hampton University, Hampton, Virginia
What I do at Georgia-Pacific:
I handle employee and labor relations matters for 20 packaging facilities in the northeast and southeast region. We make corrugated board and boxes and those featured in the photos were manufactured at our plants in Doraville, GA., Asheboro, NC., and Lake Placid, FL.
What I like about Georgia-Pacific:
The work is exciting and challenging and the people are talented, dedicated and focused on making GP the best of the best.
How GP is helping my career:
GP continues to provide developmental growth opportunities in addition to training experiences in my field of expertise. I started out as an human resources generalist at our Huntsville, Alabama packaging facility, was promoted to corporate EEO/AAP manager and subsequently promoted to regional human resources manager. During that time I have experienced many professional developmental opportunities, most memorable was my experience attending arbitration school. That training allowed me the opportunity to represent the company's position for arbitration cases in my region.
My favorite film:
"Ray" . What a courageous soul and powerful movie! Ray Charles was real, he struggled, overcame adversity and left us all with a treasure chest of beautiful music!
My favorite food:
I could literally eat myself around the world. I love Indian food, Sushi, Mexican flare, Caribbean, Chinese, Greek, etc. I also can be quite satisfied with a plate of greens, skillet cornbread and homegrown tomatoes, with cucumbers and onions.
My favorite sport:
Soccer, I watch, swimming I do.
My favorite vacation spot:
Take me back to the Greek Isles! I loved Santorini, a beautiful island with fabulous sunsets and breathtaking views.
The person I'd most like to meet for dinner:
Nelson Mandela
My biggest pet peeve:
"Nay-Sayers"
How I like to spend my spare time:
Other than volunteering for a non-profit CASA (child appointed special advocates), having served on their board of directors for 4 years, I am an avid gardener, backyard birder and just recently finished my first missionary experience building dormitories for homeless children in Nicaragua.
