Application/Interview Process

The process to complete an online profile and apply for a position is simple and takes less than 15 minutes. If you have a current resume, you can quickly upload it to our system with the click of a button. If you don't have one, you can enter details regarding your education and previous employment experiences manually.

Creating a profile online places your information into our candidate database. Our recruiters regularly search this database to locate qualified candidates for specific open positions and will contact you directly if you are identified as a potential candidate.

If you've applied for a specific position, and you meet the basic qualifications, you will receive an email confirmation that we have received your application. If your resume and assessment reflect the appropriate qualifications and experience, you will be contacted directly for additional information and further screening, either face-to-face or via phone. After this initial interview, if there seems to be good potential for success, your resume and the initial interview evaluation will be presented to the hiring manager(s) for additional consideration. When a hiring manager expresses an interest, we will ask you to visit with us in person at the job site location.

Helpful Tips What To Expect

Who you will meet

In most cases, you will meet at least one representative from our talent selection team, as well as three to five individuals from the business who are generally hiring managers or team members of the group in which you are being considered for a position.

How the interview will flow

At Georgia-Pacific, we utilize behavior based interviewing. If you are not familiar with this interviewing method we suggest researching the topic in some detail before having a conversation with the recruiter/hiring manager. Each interview meeting will last about 45 minutes. You should be prepared to answer both general questions about your background, as well as specific questions that will detail projects you have worked on or situations you have encountered in your previous employment.

What you should bring to the interview

You may want to bring extra copies of your resume to share with interviewers, especially if you've made any changes since applying for the position. Depending on the type of job for which you are interviewing, you may also want to bring samples of your work (for example; graphic designers and communication professionals may bring a portfolio of their work).

What to wear

Wear something that makes you feel comfortable and confident, but is appropriate for the role for which you are interviewing. Typically, candidates interviewing at our corporate office choose to wear a suit while candidates interviewing at our manufacturing sites come dressed in business casual attire. If you have any question as to what is appropriate for your interview please ask your recruiter.

When you'll hear from us

While we try to get back to you within a couple of days, you should hear back from Georgia-Pacific no later than one week from your interview date. However, you may contact your recruiting team member to follow up as well.

When you'll receive an offer

There's no deadline on when Georgia-Pacific may extend an offer after your interview. However, we make every effort to get back to you regarding the status of your candidacy within a week of your interview and keep you updated throughout the process.

How you'll receive an offer

You will receive a verbal offer initially followed by a formal offer letter via email which you can accept electronically, or a hard copy offer letter via regular overnight mail which you can sign and return.

Will you hear from us if you don't get an offer

Because we know waiting for an answer can be tough, we provide feedback as quickly as possible. Sometimes, we can call you with an answer within a week. Other times, we may have other candidates that will be interviewing in the weeks after your interview. To be fair, we need to make our final decision after talking with all candidates. We do make every effort to keep you updated along the way.
