Employee Matching Gifts Georgia-Pacific recognizes the importance of individual financial support to non-profit organizations. Through our Matching Gift Program, employees are encouraged to lend this assistance to qualifying institutions. The company will match on a one-to-one basis gifts up to $20,000 per employee in each calendar year.



Eligible Employee Participants
  • Full-time employees of Georgia-Pacific Corporation and its subsidiaries.
  • Current and retired members of Georgia-Pacific's Board of Directors
  • Retired persons who were, on the date of retirement, full-time employees of Georgia-Pacific or a company that at that date was a subsidiary of Georgia-Pacific Corporation.

Eligible Gifts and Matching
  • A minimum of $25, and maximum of $20,000 per participant per calendar year. Gifts will be processed continuously and be accumulated by calendar year.
  • Gifts of cash of securities with a quoted market value (value of securities will be determined by the closing price on the date of receipt of the gift). Gifts must be made from participants' personal assets.
  • Gifts may be made to more than one qualified institution or organization but in the aggregate may not exceed the annual maximum.

Eligible Recipients
All recipients must be recognized as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the United States Internal Revenue Code or as an instrumentality of a state or local government under Code Section 170 (c)(1). The following institutions are qualified for Georgia-Pacific Matching Gift funds, subject to the exclusions covered under "Ineligible Gifts."
  • All recipients must be located in the United States or one of its possessions.
  • Graduate and professional schools, four-year colleges, junior or community colleges, and technical institutions, which offer at least a two-year program of college level studies. These schools must be accredited by a regionally or nationally recognized accrediting agency.
  • College funds such as education, alumni, foundations, and association funds that benefit general college non-athletic goals.
  • College preparatory schools offering instruction through the 12th grade that are members of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) and have signed that association's statement on non-discrimination, or a member of a state or regional organization that is affiliated with NAIS as an association member.
  • Hospitals that are registered by the American Hospital Association or Joint Commission or Accreditation of Hospitals. (See "Ineligible Gifts" for additional information.)
  • Cultural organizations open to public participation that have full-time professional direction and management, including: museums, art galleries, dance companies, opera companies, symphony orchestras, musical performing groups, community theater companies, public broadcasting systems, public or research libraries, botanical or zoological societies, historical societies, historic preservation restoration societies and planetariums.

Ineligible Gifts
The following gifts will not be matched even though the recipient may be eligible otherwise under the Georgia-Pacific Matching Gift Program. This list is not intended to be exhaustive.
  • Gifts that directly benefit the donor, donor's family or anyone designated by the donor, e.g., memberships, dues, admissions, parking, subscriptions, seating preferences and other personal privileges.
  • Any portion of a gift that is non-deductible for tax purposes by the donor.
  • Payments made in lieu of tuition, books or other student fees.
  • Gifts to athletic funds, foundations or associations.
  • Pledges.
  • Personal religious financial commitments.
  • Gifts to amateur groups or individuals.
  • Tickets (including those for charity balls, fund-raising events and raffles).
  • Bequests.
  • Insurance premiums.
  • Gifts to service organization, charity funds, political or war veteran groups.
  • Gifts-in-kind that represent material or physical assets other than cash or securities.
  • Gifts-in-kind that represent the value of personal service and/or time given to an organization.
  • Gifts to independent nursing homes, hospices, rest homes special schools, convalescent institutions and long-term facilities, which are not considered hospitals under the intent of this program.

Matching Gift Procedures
GP employees must initiate the process by obtaining a Matching Gift Application (available through the GP intranet or the Community Programs Department). The employee completes a section of the application and sends it, along with his contribution, to the recipient organization, which completes the application and returns it to Georgia-Pacific.
