Georgia-Pacific Employees with Student

Since its inception, the Georgia-Pacific Foundation has recognized the value of education as one of the most important and essential building blocks of a strong, thriving community. We believe that creating, supporting and nurturing worthy educational projects are paramount to achieving our philosophical goals. The foundation continually seeks to invest in innovative and results-driven educational initiatives that we feel will make a measurable difference in our communities.

We're proud to be an integral part of a wide array of community-based educational programs around the world. We help youth transition from school to the workforce as well as provide employees with job readiness training. The scholarships and technical programs that we fund to give students and workers the skills necessary to succeed in today's workplace.

M. Agnes Jones Elementary School

One of the foundation's ongoing educational initiatives that make a genuine difference is occurring at M. Agnes Jones, an urban elementary school, in Atlanta, Georgia.

The foundation has funded improvements that have dramatically enhanced the quality of school's learning environment, causing a measurable, positive impact in students' performance. In addition to outfitting the school's computer lab with the latest technology, other improvements include installing an outdoor learning center, nature trails, and an amphitheater for hands-on field education.

As part of our ServiceForce program more than 150 Georgia-Pacific employees volunteer to tutor and mentor at the school during their lunch hour positively impacting over 75 students every week with nearly 6,000 volunteer hours per school year.
