Community Priorities

Georgia-Pacific and Green Bay Operations are committed to providing a variety of resources - cash, volunteers, product donations and in-kind resources - to help local 501(c)3 organizations. Our priority areas are: Education, Environment, Enrichment of the Community and Entreprenuership.

Some examples of the projects we will consider funding:

EDUCATION

  • Job Training (training related to our facility)
  • Literacy
  • Scholarships (programs that are important to our company)

ENVIRONMENT

  • Clean air, Clean water, recycling
  • Environmental Education
  • Land Conservation (parks/nature trails/recreation areas, tree planting, wildlife habitat
  • Resource Conservation

ENRICHMENT OF THE COMMUNITY

  • Affordable Housing (preservation and rehabilitation of homes)
  • Arts and Culture
  • Community Safety (improving safety, security and violence prevention)
  • Employee Volunteerism
  • Youth Enrichment Programs

ENTREPRENEURSHIP

  • Youth Entrepreneurs
  • Market Based Management Courses - Colleges, Universities, Non-Profits
  • Women and Minority Entrepreneur Programs

Limitations

We cannot support the following requests:

  • "Bail-out" funds given to provide emergency assistance to organizations for general operating purposes
  • Individuals
  • Political causes, candidates and legislative lobbying or advocacy efforts of any type
  • Faith based organizations, churches or religious denominations, religious or theological schools
  • Social, alumni or fraternal organizations serving a limited constituency
  • Organizations requesting goodwill advertising for fund-raising benefits and program books
  • Athletic associations
  • General operating support for United Way member agencies
  • National groups whose local chapter has already received support
  • Health related organizations, medical and nursing schools
  • Named academic chairs
  • Organizations that channel funds received to third parties
  • Fund-raising events such as raffles, telethons, walkathons and auctions
  • Trips and tours
  • Concerts or sporting events

How to Apply

Georgia-Pacific's Green Bay mills will consider requests that meet the above criteria. Please send a written request with basic background information, including:

  • name of the requesting organization
  • name of the project
  • project goals and objectives
  • needs the project seek to meet
  • anticipated results
  • how results will be measured
  • project budget
  • appendix that contains proof of tax exempt status, along with names of board members and staff

If your request is approved, you may be asked to provide a follow-up report that includes:

  • how the GP contribution was used
  • program results
  • how you acknowledged Georgia-Pacific's contribution (annual report, program materials, etc.)
