Employees
Approximately 2,400 Georgia-Pacific (GP) employees work in Green Bay. About 1,900 mill employees manufacture and distribute leading commercial and retail brands of paper products (bath tissue, napkins, towels) and about 500 business support employees provide engineering, transportation, data processing, and customer services.
Customers / Products
Many of the products we proudly make in Green Bay can be found in hotels, restaurants, airports, malls, hospitals, schools, offices, grocery and discount stores.
Environmental, Health, and Safety Stewardship
We are committed to protecting the health and safety of our employees, our community and our environment. Safety is our priority. Our safety vision is to create a workplace where no one can ever get hurt. We strive for 100 percent compliance with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), state and local government guidelines for the protection of air, quality, water quality and human health. We use recycled wastepaper to make our products and we are one of the largest paper recyclers in North America.
Economic Impact – over $630 Million
Every day, GP employees and products help maintain a strong, stable economy in Northeastern Wisconsin. Every year we:
- Purchase about $440 million in goods and services from Wisconsin and other states
- Pay approximately $2.5 million in property taxes
- Pay approximately $170 million in annual payroll (gross wages and taxes)
Community Investments - over $240,000
We are committed to improving the quality of life in our communities. Our priority areas are: environment, education, enrichment and entrepreneurialism. In 2009, Green Bay Operations employees and Georgia-Pacific’s local and corporate foundations invested over $240,000 in local community agencies and programs. Last year we donated needed equipment to local fire departments through our Bucket Brigade program, supported United Way of Brown County, and invested in math, science and engineering programs in our community.
