Our CEO, Jim Hannan, gets safety

Georgia-Pacific CEO and President Jim Hannan was recognized by the National Safety Council as one of nine business leaders Who "Get It." Today, Jim issued a video to thank employees for their commitment to safety.

“It’s an honor to receive such an award from the National Safety Council recognizing our safety efforts,” Jim said. “This award is about GP employees and the choices you make every day to make safety a shared value at GP. I am proud to be a part of this organization.”

Each year, the National Safety Council recognizes a few CEOs who demonstrate world-class safety.

Jim’s profile is featured in the February 2012 issue of Safety+Health magazine.

“The Council is proud to recognize these world-class leaders like Jim who exemplify the ideals of the Journey,” said Janet Froetscher, National Safety Council president and CEO. “Their inspiring stories of safety excellence will set an example for others to follow as they seek to improve their own safety programs.”

Janet Froetscher will travel to Atlanta in early March to present this award to Jim and GP employees at the company’s annual Health and Safety meeting.

Jim spoke to employees about safety improvements during a recent employee broadcast. Hear what he had to say about the importance of making safety a shared value.
