What is smart, strong and dependable in the workplace?
If you said Brawny Industrial® products, you are right, of course. At Georgia-Pacific Professional, we wanted to find the “who” that inspires our products - the unsung heroes who work hard, work safely and give back to their neighbors, co-workers and community every day. So earlier this year, we undertook a national search to find the 2012 Brawny Industrial Great American Worker.
During this search, we reviewed hundreds of stories of men and women serving as the backbone of the American workforce. After many heart-felt nominations and public votes, the top 10 submission essays were selected. They were a strong reflection of excellence in the key pillars we hold for a Great American Worker - safety, productivity and community involvement.
This year’s winner brought us to the hardworking city of Pittsburgh, Pa., the hometown of Rose Cceberio. With more than 25 years of experience, this year’s Great American Worker is a private duty registered nurse.
“Of all the talented workers who entered this year’s contest, Rose stood out as an individual committed to making a difference in her job and within her community,” said Steve Laratta, vice president of channel development, Georgia-Pacific Professional.
Rose educates people about risk management and illness prevention to encourage patients to incorporate safety in their daily routines. With safety at the forefront, she helps patients learn ways to ensure their own health, to be self-sufficient and to facilitate healing.
In earning the title, Rose hopes to help improve the nursing practice and recruit qualified workers to the field.
"I am humbled to stand among the group of finalists who each contribute to the American workforce," she says. “I plan to use this recognition to advocate for my community and to encourage others to implement safe and healthy lifestyle practices."
Along with the title of Great American Worker, Rose will receive a brand new Ford® F-150 pick-up truck.
