The A+Team: GP Awards 50 Scholarships to Employees’ Children

Updated Thu June 12, 2014

Every year as school eases out and summer rolls in, we recognize 50 young people across the country whose ambition and drive for academic achievement is remarkable. What makes the recognition especially gratifying is they happen to be the children of our employees who have earned a Georgia-Pacific Foundation college scholarship.

Among this year’s scholarship recipients are students who want to become doctors, engineers, and leaders in international business. They include National Merit Scholars, two Eagle Scouts, and even one American Idol Hollywood Week contestant! These high-achievers have excelled not only academically, but in athletics and community service as well.

The Georgia-Pacific Foundation Scholarship Program for Employees’ Children gives 50 scholarships every year, which awards $2,000 per year for up to four years of full time college undergraduate study for a total maximum award of $8,000.

Since the scholarship program began in 1988, we've awarded 1,350 scholarships totaling nearly $11 million. The program is administered by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation and is open to children of all active, full-time, U.S. employees of Georgia-Pacific.

We’re proud to have supported the academic achievements of our employees’ children for more than 25 years through this program. We view it as investing in the success of our young people and we can’t wait to see the many contributions they will make as professionals and citizens in their communities.
