About the Savannah River Mill
Our operation is designed to produce products primarily from 100% recycled fiber. We produced our first tissue, towel and napkin products in October 1986.
More than 900 employees are part of the SRM Team, 40% of which live in Effingham County. Interested in learning about potential career opportunities with Georgia-Pacific? Click here.

Our facility site is comprised of more than 2,000 acres total, with approximately 75 acres of manufacturing and warehouse space under roof. Our site includes more than 150 acres of wildlife habitat as part of our Wildlife Habitat Council’s Wildlife at Work designation and more than 100 acres of longleaf pine. Our property also includes numerous archaeological and historical sites.
Five of the world’s 12 largest tissue paper machines reside at our facility. Our more than 40 converting lines make the tissue, towel and napkin products that our customers use every day in their homes. Some of our retail products include Quilted Northern Ultra Plush® bath tissue, Sparkle® paper towel and Vanity Fair® napkins. We also produce the Compact® tissue and enMotion® towel that are used in restaurants, airports, offices and other away‐from‐home locations.
At the Savannah River Mill, we strive to be a valued member of our community, and we’ve built strong partnerships over the years as part of those efforts. From United Way and the Effingham County school system to the local chamber of commerce and Rotary clubs, our team members actively engage in our efforts to continue to preserve and earn the opportunity to operate in the community our mill calls home. We work hard to be a good neighbor, and we want to remain a quality employer in the Effingham County community.
Since 1986, the Savannah River Mill has been charting a course for a strong future by building on our strengths: hard‐working, dedicated team members and a facility and product mix that can compete in today’s dynamic marketplace. In the years ahead, we will continue building our future by delivering long-term value for our customers, our company, our community and society.
